Due to the date of the video, I don't know if saying this now is gonna be relevant, but I think the fire did have to do something with the type of the glove. The first glove was mesh like shaped and let the compressed air in front of the baseball go through partially, meanwhile the second glove was kind of "hermetic" and didn't let it pass, so the air caught inbetween the two objects ignited and the material of the glove was also reactive to this heat partially. I think it was like when objects enter the atmosphere compression effect, but in a much shorter distance. Edit: Also just saw it again, and in the 9 gloves shot, there looks like there's a fire frame from the first glove (which is not the mesh one) too even from the side view.

@ the bike - the saddle is too low for both of them. Rather than being able to stand flat flooded on the ground, it needs to be the ball of the foot. Then their range of motion should be more optimal, with a more extended knee on the down peddle and not a horizontal knee on the top of the peddling motion. If you dont, the motion gets cramped and its harder to maintain balance. In my Dutch opinion, the helmets are overblown. You dont really damage the head, but rather the legs or arms. You need to learn to let go of the steer to catch yourself though. Early age cycle practice in the grass will do that; even before they ride on concrete.

I remember studying this kind of stuff a long time ago. The "fire" happens when a relatively smooth object (for example: a ping pong ball) and an object with a "less smooth" surface (for example: a ping pong paddle) connect with so much speed that the smooth object creates intense pressures in the gaps on the surface of the rougher surface. The air compresses to the point of ignition which even after I've seen it thousands of times over the years, it's still amazing to me.

I Know it has been months since the release of this video, but I just saw it for the first time. I had a thought about the fire. Could it be that the compression of the air in the glove super heated the air? Since it is a pocket where the air has less room to escape. So when the ball made contact with the glove it cause the enough friction to ignite cloth threads on either the glove or the ball. I think it would be really cool to be able to record temperature when doing experiments like this.

Should redo the glove experiment but put the gloves as close together, back to back, as possible. Then the gloves would have to rip through each other instead of the ball making it completely through one glove and then making it to the next glove.
