"keep fighting for our right to repir." Simple, don't buy from companies that think they own the product after someone else becomes the legal owner. Of course, this will be difficult for folks who are addicted to material posessions. I theorise companies will no longer sell their products, but will rent them out for a monthly fee, like many software companies are doing.

@Marco De Amos Stop trying to justify the actions of a corrupt company that only wants money. Also when they make it so the phones can't be repaired they are able to charge people unbelievable amounts of money for the company to fix it or they can charge the customer for buying a new phone. WHile it is their phone and their company, what they are doing is borderline monopoly, which is actually illegal in many countries especially their biggest buyer America.

I've always been a fan of Apple in the past but these dirty tactics just like with other big corporations make me never want to use an Apple product again. It's super disgusting how big tech is taking the right for you to get your property that you bought honestly from getting repaired elsewhere. It is like buying a car and the only place you can take it to, to get repaired is the same dealership you bought it from. This is clearly not a free market. This is monopoly corporations forcing you to use their products and gouge you for all you have. I'm pretty sure the next phone I get will not be an Apple or Android phone. Just like with social media corporations the telecom corps are cutting off your right to free association just the way social media is silencing speech.

I used to work on 95% Apple computers for a major university. Apple started pushing hard to fill their computers with weird bagged parts - almost like organs - and generally pushing to only have their own proprietary specialists work on them, even for accessing an old hard drive etc. You even had to remove the screen with a specialized system. This was in 2008, so I lost my job, and suddenly what was once an asset (Experience with macs and PCs! Experience with OSX, windows, and lots of Unix-like systems!) had become largely worthless due to the Apple side of my experience. My college work was all with Windows and Windows Server, as well as several Linux distros, but that not being my work experience hobbled me. Above all else, I hate how much this impacts non-tech-savvy users. If they can't get a warrantied repair, they will probably be pushed by Apple to buy a whole new device, and preventing them from pursuing any repair or recovery work from a third party. As if Apple junk wasn't enough of a rip-off...

Broken lcd on my android when I was in 15 years old and replaced it all within 45 minutes. Broken lcd on my iPhone when I was 19 and ended up in a mess of parts and ended up buying an android.

I'm using a hand me down iPhone 6s plus my sister gave me which was a upgrade over my old iPhone 5 since I haven't felt the need to pay 1100+ for a device that does the exact same thing as the one I'm holding in my hand. I bought a battery on Amazon for it and replaced it myself Saturday. The phone is working like a brand new phone again. After watching this I will never buy another apple product again. Ever. I'm done with apple. This is absolutely ridiculous

Would anyone happen to know if Apples plan is to recycle used phones? I've had an iPhone 7 Plus 256GB since its initial release and the only issue I've had is battery degradation over time (still haven't had to replace it as it's still at 72% capacity), but when I asked an Apple employee if I could have just the battery replaced she said they no longer do that repair (and that was 1.5+ years ago). Appears that Apples plan is to make phones with low power storage capacity and them knowing most people are unaware of how to properly maintain/use their battery they'll just offer to sell people a new phone when a battery goes bad after 1-2 years.

My I phone outlasted my android for 5 years now, meanwhile my android backup device breaks down at 1 and a half years, battery bulged and ruined the electronics... I phones generally outlast generic android brands, it makes sense for them to not allow repair and extension of life the thing could last for decades if repaired. Profit margin my friend...

Believe me when I say , I was THE most diehard apple fanboy up until recently... currently I own the iPhone 11 . I purchased it one of the first days it came out from a version store . since the first day I got the phone, the camera flash for taking pictures simply does not work 😂 but if I record video the flash will work , or if I used a 3rd party app like Instagram to take a picture , only then will the flash work 🤦‍♂️ on a phone I paid over 1000 dollars for and is notorious for having excellent camera quality ...needless to say I was very disappointed. Ive always adored iphones for there simplicity , and genius straight forward interface , let’s not mention the absolutely stunning sleek look and design of the phone. One thing that never fails is the noticeable decline in battery proficiency on all the models I’ve owned , the battery never fails to get really hot after Playing a single cod mobile match . paired with the (often) occasional glitchy Face ID 🙄 What really puts cherry on this whip cream ,is that I’m still paying off my iPhone 11 and the 12 is already out 🤯 I want to switch phones I wouldn’t feel right without my iMessage or FaceTime and of course the exclusive emojis🤷‍♂️... That’s my iPhone rant take what you want from it idk Im just a guy with an crappy iPhone 📲

the automotive world has been like this for some time. what they have done is at the software level, the components are tied together most likely by serial number. the serial numbers in all the the components must match or it thinks its not genuine. once they install a new part, they marry the components by flashing the new component with the serial number though the charge port with special software. in the automotive world its called component protection or trp (theft relevant parts).
