Some of these comments are concerning...at the time of this interview she JUST lost. And instead of hating (or praising) on the other player , she focused on herself and her own faults. That takes real ownership, and comments about Serena getting "replaced" by a "younger and beautiful" player is just sexist. Also, the fact that she made it to the semi finals considering she just had a TREMENDOUSLY complicated pregnancy is so- and I cannot express this enough- badass. I respect Serena immensely and I am excited to see Naomi's career grow, but there is no need to hate on Serena because of her emotional reaction to the game. She's always been competitive, we all knew that, and we loved her for that.

Unforced errors are a major factor in losing matches probably the best indicator. All it took was one game in each set for Serena to lose serve. With Naomi she doesn't have the luxury because she's having trouble battling back. Also I notice Serena's timing is off on the transition game; she's leaving her opponent too much time to execute.

Yes she made loads of errors but Osaka's game put huge pressure on Serena to take those chances with they came and those unforced errors are actually forced given the opponent being so strong.. It's very rare you see the Big 3 in the men's game focus on their game after a defeat. They almost always put their losses down to the quality their opponent served up and the pressure they were put under. It's classic Serena. She's a great champion no doubt but sometimes she needs to accept she was outplayed. The Issues in the US Open against Osaka a couple of years back and Klijsters even further back put all the attention on Serena in games where she was being completely outplayed and took everything away from her opponents getting the plaudits they deserved at the time..
