SSC Tuatara World Record Analysis: FACTS
Motoryzacja
There is a lot of discussion going on about the SSC Tuatara's claimed record run. All the comparisons and assumptions aside, one thing is impossible to despute: the corelation between time, speed and distance. In the World-Record run video that has been presented to us, the actual speed of the car is about 25% lower than the suggested GPS data. In this video we are going to explain you why based on all the available data.
In conclusion: we don't claim the car is not able to do the supposed top speed. But the actual speed of the car in the world record video don't match the presented GPS data overlay and hence the video itself cannot be used as proof for the achieved top speed.

Your talking average not top speed. There claim was 300 something mph top speed not 300 mph average. You enter at 215 and leave at 220 your average is 217ish
Buggati drive test are real not just inside a dashboard 😒
Another factor about this claim which seems to be off: In the beginning of the video it was said that the road slants downhill which gives an unfair advantage. Side note: I believe these guys are right but only at a 65 percent rate. I think it's possible that they are unaware or are incorrect about some variable or variables. And if the speedometer showed 331 mph and they weren't even close to going that fast it shows that they went to great lengths put up a fraudulent video. Like you two, I also want that car to travel 331 mph but if this video is a fraud it's going to leave a bad taste in my brain about the company. Once one lie is detected there are a hundred other lies they have told or will tell. Trust goes out the window. Cheers
The 1,44 mile measurement may be wrong . The accuracy of the google distance tool isn’t recognized by themselves and there is a lot of statements from people saying that there is problem with distance numbers rounding so is a weak evidence unless you go there and measure yourself with a certified tool . Second thing, was only me or someone else notice a cut in the video precisely at 1:25 ? Maybe to cover up a possible cut shortage in the koenigsegg footage. I saw a road sign passig through the Tuatara at 1:23 at the right that doesn’t passes through the Koenigsegg, but should be passing through it let’s say at 1:26... sounds a bit suspicious or not? My guess is that the actual distance is a lot more than 1.44 miles that explains perfectly the time elapsed by the SSC Tuatara and about the Koenigsegg footage nothing can be told because there is a part of the recording that was somehow “lost in space “.
Ask the stupid driver how many miles was he driving
Shelby thought the world was like America all dummies. How wrong he was
331mph more like 231mph
Sorry but as a Vector mathematician I find your hypothesis inaccurate and your repeated comment that "it's all there in the chart" is like saying the proof of the hoover board is there in the circuit board. Next please apply your "charting skills" to bigfoot videos, because the world needs proof of conspiracy there too.
Another way to confirm would be to use the drag coefficient and drag calculation to compute the power needed at that speed, and see if it matches known figures for the car.
Simple busted. But why can't we have a sectioning body to govern all manufacturers at there claims. Ps salts flats check with them be legit. Smoking gun till they rerun.
Isn't this possible if the video recording speed and playback speed are off by , oh let's say, 20% due to editing and compression (I'm not a video expert, obviously). There is no reference timer visible in the video so your whole argument is leaning on the fact the video length is 24 seconds right?
This is why some manufacturers are avoiding Nurburgring. A lot of educated guys can catch you if you try to play with "record time" :)

When Americans try to build super cars lol..
so how fast did it go??
There's a far simpler way of calculating the speed. If you know the length of each of the dotted lane marking lines, you just calculate how many the car passes per second and work your speed out from there.
Shelby is inviting you guys & SCHMEE out to Vegas for another speed run in the very near future!
What's the margin if error?
The only people who can confirm and validate the run is dewetron. Until dewetron gives an official statement I will assume all the conspiracy videos are just conspiracy.
They said the video was edited improperly. They should just do the run again.

Maybe this will help: toolstud.io/video/framerate.php?inputfps=29.97&compare=network&duration=24&duration_unit=seconds&outputfps=25
Hi Misha, @Misha Charoudin, misha@carmrades.com. Ther is one importent factor You may not take in consideration. Topic is very intresting. You need to find out in what frame rate original video was shoot. Because there is possibility that they shoot at NTSC frame rate - U.S. broadcast standard, which is 29.97 fps. You can rounded to 30 fps. Next thing is that they may put this Video on 25 fps timeline in it, and this will change the real time of it. Or they did other way around. They shoot 25 fps and put on 30 fps timeline. Take this under consideration. I'm not good in math, so i am leaving it to You. Best Dawid Dado Lukić PS: Love Your YT Channel.
Sarmale POWER !
Wouldn't the tyres deform significantly at high speeds? Even stationary my tyres as calculated from the tyre data vs actual diameter has significant error.
Just speed up the video and only show the speed next time xP
They used toilet paper math to calculate 331
Could this be purely accidental? Or are they trying to build hype for a car they wanna sell??
I've driven/ rode the NV160 highway pretty often and just drove it a week or so ago. Construction has been done to the road for the pat few years but I don't think hardly any has been done in the area they used. Mostly, it has been a widening project on the mountain with repaving in those areas. The 160 is a pretty smooth and rolls very fast, there are very little undulations and/or damage to its surface. While not a high traffic road, it is used constantly since a lot of individuals that live in Pahrump work in Las Vegas. Very little grooves, ruts or cracks, nothing that concerns or surprises you on a motorcycle for example.
Can we all agree that the thought of it being real was fun while it lasted 😂🤣😂🤣
Your calculations of gear ratio are bullshit they are not even close to actual video footage of the car going 238mph in 5th gear at 7,200 RPM!
A guy gives an effort and builds a car that hits some speed and three clowns around a computer screen try to disprove it.But why ? Let the guy enjoy himself ? One cannot claim a record like that also it must be official etc etc in front of all the world with multiple gps data etc etc then why is all this excitement ?is it your duty to disprove a man in usa ? Are you speed police or something or an authority on this subject ? You are paid or something ? Fuck it it's a nice car and let the guy enjoy himself.

It doesn't work like that lol
I instantly wrote it on their original video... That was fake and got bashed... But it just felt... Not 300mph fast. Just watch autoNL vids and it feels different...i knew i was actually right... Thanks for the support
This world record claim just makes our country look like a land full of untrustworthy, incompetent liars...
Venom f5 test results anybody
If you measure the speed in foot per second the math adds up. Calibration problem?
My thought on this is simple.... The biggest car company in the world, VW (owner of Bugatti) didn't do the 300 mp/h attempt officially (no two directions and noone from Guinness world record present) why? because it seems to be an incredible hard thing to do. Think about the ressources VW have...... pretty much endless. I do hope SSC will deliver. It would be an amazing achievement but i doubt they can.
All u nerds need to get beat up again
No doubt SSC lied. You proved it. Let's not debate what is obvious. Is it possible to have someone like TopGear or carwow people to do a "Tuatara vs Koenigsegg Agera RS vs Bugatti Veyron" in a straight line?
and they said they landed on the moon YEAAARS ago hahaha damn thats hollywood for ya
You guys are school boys, using a compressed youtube video with who-knows-what video/audio processing algorithms used as your data set. This data set is shoddy and your major assumption is that the video is chronographically accurate, which I’ll bet is not the case. You even admit this at the end of the video by saying that the gps data is the only important thing, so why cast even more doubt on SSC with this cheap shot?
Yeah I'm sure 216 was the average speed. I agree the run was suspect. However, If he is accelerating and slowing between each point none of this proves or disproves his max speed. You saw someone say it was fake and created the math to show that. With all that said, I don't think he was anywhere near 331.
A video from a professional guy, CEO of RACELOGIC, and the "Estimated true Vmax" is 223.75mph plclip.info/show/nJWpt6mzmKm-joI/wideo
If they hold the car at 330 miles an hour for one second, it should cover 2 miles. See if it does.
This is great shit lol I love it when someone is so obsessed with accuracy and truth that they "build a case" this thorough. Y'all need to be lawyers lol or at least traffic accident analysts. After watching the video I'm inclined to agree, that speed was just increasing way too fast above 300. I know how insanely difficult it is for ANY vehicle to exceed 300 let alone INCREASE that quickly. Someone get out there on that highway with a measuring wheel and measure the actual distance for us instead of relying on a satellite view.
Average speed is 216. Isn't that different than top speed? The drive gearing is the most telling to me averages are made of highs and lows.
This analysis is completely in line with my own reasoning. When I saw the video of the attempt it seemed impossible, the car has potential but seems too crude to last three runs at those speeds without drama or breaking down. Even if they were in 7th gear for some reason, it would not be enough (average 252 mph) but closer to the dash. Seems like the GPS numbers are off by 4/3rds. Can't deduce the natural reason for that without more data, though. It does not seem to be a speed unit conversion error (hello NASA!).
But if it was filmed at 1.5x speed and you are playing it back at normal speed the time is off. And your calculations are off. By the same amount you are calculating.
SSC vs World Record Biden vs Trump 2020 vs the known world everyone loves a good fight!
There is an obvious mistake in the maths. You are using the Illuminati GLOBE maths, SSC uses the true math of the flat earth. Open your eyes sheeple!
1.44 miles / 0.4 minutes = 3.6 *60 = 216 mph ... the average speed for that section ^ ^ ^ ^ Distance Time (24sec) answer x60 (60 sec's in a min)
Yeah, they didn't realize their GPS calibrations were off by over 30%. Also that U.S. cop had no idea that his knee he was pushing into the back of Floyd's neck was cutting off his airway.
How are you off 17-20%??? Good Lord.
🙄 Now we all understand why the fastest animal creature on land is a Cheetah
😂 maybe the GPS was measuring relative velocity, guys
Only Donald Trump can get out of this kind of situation 😂
Looks like there's no way they can hide now
The amount of time that the run is off by is very similar to what you would see if you imported a 30fps video as a 24fps video. It will be interesting to see the second run
Who did actually the research and maths? You or shmee? Its sad that only shmee gets all the credits for it.
I saw that Tuatara beat Stradman's Bugatti Veyron like nothing. It can easily go over 250mph no doubt about that
since when is gps data used to measure land speed records anyway? measured mile in both directions . end of story. bonneville veterans must be laughing their arses off. this video is an excellent breakdown of the fake speed record but it is not required. gps data is not a valid measurement for speed records on land.
I dont know if the car did 331. Bit I dont think their calculations are taking tire expansion to account. The faster you go the more your tire grow.
Time is relative.....
Just by the Bodywork you can tell that this car can impossibly go 331 mph, it hasnt even aero rims... There is only one omportant question left: Why does someone risk hin reputation in such a stupid way!?
Looks like 321 people didn't pass Math... :D Excellent analysis! If car manufacturers continue this competition, I suggest they all pitch in to build a private road/track that can accommodate such speeds and with option to expand. On a more biased note: W16 Quad-Turbo, with the displacement to match, will trump any other engine/setup in the category these cars are competing. That is to say, that Bugatti is just sitting back, sipping on their beer and waiting to see what the competition will attempt to do, to de-thrown them as the fastest production car, and then proceed to increase the already conservative boost, change a gear ratio here and there, re-asses the internal components and push the Bugatti just enough to gain its proper place as the record holder. Folks, a modified GTR v6 TT can achieve 254mph in 1/2mi., pushing north of 3,000hp at the wheels, what can the Bugatti engine accomplish with almost 3x the capacity, almost 3x the # of cyl. and twice the turbos and, AND... DEEP POCKETS?
What if they just admit they faked it. Could they just apologize and it be ok.
Brilliant analysis and presentation Robert!👍🏼
Hold on wait a minute.... Are you suggesting an American Company is changing the facts, lying about the results and then dodging hard questions about the legality of the results on the world stage? No!!! Really!!!
the funny part is people always want to believe scientists because they think they are the experts but half the time their mumble jumble is a bunch of garbage and calculated guessing. I can't wait until SSC comes back out and smashes their own record so they can debunk these idiots.
A Tuatara, by the way, is a native lizard from New Zealand.
what is the Horsepower..?
so what was the actual top speed based on these calculations?
Those gear ratios are incorrect according to SSC. Final was 2.92 and 6th was .757 not .784.
Did anyone see Jerods response video on the 30th?
2020, year of fake information being touted as truth. Need to Stop. Great Video explaination.
So they are going to retest and apparently there was a video editing error with 2 seperate videos spliced together. They said the car was atcually at 6th gear redline when record was broken which is 8800 RPM (the apparently raised it from the stated 8500). Interesting to note... 7th gear can hit 353MPH with a .625 ratio but will only go to 7700 so if you had enough power.. you could do 353. The video editing mistake does make sense. Unless there is a reason why you would do this run in 6th gear. I know why I would do it in 6th and that would be a test pass to make sure the car was stable.
No one will ever buy an SSC again.
Maybe the car went through a wormhole.
have you considered , that the footage might be recorded in another framerate, then it was uploaded? because the ratio between your calculation and the gps is almost exactly 1.33:1.
Goodness! How are the GPS aaaanndd the speedometer so far off?!
typical hyperbole by ............. cheers guys for clearing this up.
1750hp on E85 fuel. With their claimed drag coefficient they'd need over 2000hp to reach their claimed speed. Considering that the power required to overcome drag increases cubely the maths don't add up there either.
Everyone needs to calm down. They admitted there was a problem with the data on that attempt. And they probably jumped the gun on pumping out press releases before they had really checked the validity of it. They really should have known when the speed measurement was over 300mph and the car was still pulling like it wasn't even breaking a sweat. But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are embarrassed and didn't do it on purpose. They're going to run the car again and they know everyone will be watching them this time so they're obviously confident the car can do it.

Everyone is calm. They are just disputing what SSC previously claim. We are in a democratic world that's why people can speak if they think something is not adding up. K?
They were doing km/h and labeled it as mph🤣😉
They gona make the next run for ppv lol
I wonder if this is partly tyre behaviour. I imagine a tyre behaves very different at 300mph compared to at 30mph, with the rotational forces pushing the rubber out. As the circumference of the tyre is the final "final drive" component, this would change the values in the fourth column by a percentage. Now could a tyre stretch by 20% at 300mph? Not a clue, but it could be one of a few factors to explain the discrepancy.
We know the SSC Ultimate Aero went 256mph back in 2007. Obviously something went very wrong here. I can't believe they spent 13 years developing a slower car. Are they in financial trouble? Is the 1750bhp really true. It would seem so. But who knows???

@SuperGeronimo999 I agree with your assessment mostly. However, besides just the aero drag factor, the gear ratios don't seem to support the fact that the car can even get over 300mph. It seems like the final drive is too short and the rpm would need to be 10,000 to get to 330mph.
SuperGeronimo999

@Ty Curtin Well, the thing is, the Chiron already went 305 mph with 1600 hp, despite being very heavy and having a drag coefficient of 0.35, which is quite a bit worse than a Ferrari F40 (Cd 0.30). It would need over 2000 hp to reach 330 mph as the Tuatara did, or claimed to do. For the light and aerodynamic Tuatara to reach 305 mph as the Chiron did, it would only need 1040 hp. For 330 mph it would need 1316 hp. To reach 350 mph as they said felt possible, they would need 1570 hp. The absolute limit with 1750 hp would be 362 mph. If the tires would last. There is a nice little tool you can use to calculate it all. I'll link it at the end of this post. If you want to play around a bit, here are each cars data: Chiron HP: 1600 Chiron Weight: 4288 lbs Chiron Drag Coefficient: 0.350 Chiron Frontal Area: 22.6 Tuatara HP: 1750 Tuatara Weight: 2750 lbs Tuatara Drag Coefficient: 0.279 Tuatara Frontal Area: 18.0 www.apexgarage.com/tech/horsepower_calc.shtml

@SuperGeronimo999 That's true. But the big thing over 280mph is the wind resistance. It get incredibly high, even with superior aerodynamics. The force goes up with the square of the speed. I don't think 1750hp is enough to get to 330mph. You probably need 2500 or more.

It's far lighter than a Bugatti and even lighter than a Koenigsegg while its aerodynamics are better than any other current car with the exception of the upcoming Jesko Absolut (which has a drag coefficient of 0.278, just 0.001 lower than Tuatara) - which means it doesn't need any more power as them. Also the engine was developed with NRE (Nelson Racing Engines) which produced monsters with 2500 hp before...
224mph max speed
This was great to watch. I really enjoy your analytical breakdowns. Would it be possible to do this sort of analysis for a lap of the ring comparing the 620R and MR-GT2RS? Covering all 73 corners👊😉
It s thé double if thé koenigsegg bien with an orher front more Line an arrow
they said the speedo only reads up to 300 MPH
Rounding doesn‘t chnage much when missing 100 km/h...
How can I get that shirt
I guess it was 331kmph.
no matter how this turns out, all I can hear is a bunch of overheated vaginas yapping and I'm pissed that youtube algorithm now thinks I'm even remotely interested.
Thank you for your work. I would like to add that a rigorous disproving of the top speed claim needs to discuss at least 3 more points. (1) The one-to-one preservation of video frame timing when moving the video from software to software. This is critical to evaluating the duration of the run. (2) The general accuracy of the dash tachometer. (3) The increase of the wheel radius caused by the tire deformation from the centrifugal force. This is a known effect in drag racing, and would result in diminished readings both in dash speedometer and dash tachometer compared to the real speed..
One guy made his own fake telemetry parody of SSC just to show how easily it could be done. Scale factor 10x !!! plclip.info/show/qn2ru6LNoHyvjKQ/wideo This guy's a genius. And it's hilarious 😂😂🤣 Even better than the record video... 😂 Serious note, Racelogic MD confirmed the telemetry wasn't Dewetron's software. It was all fake.
3:42 was that the road Trevor pushed that Nikola One Truck downhill? looks like 😂😂😂
I this this is not a elligible way to show the world record ...but if its a coinsidence! SSC have to arrange a live race with bugatti on his private test track where previously done world record by bugatti ...I this this is a best way to show a courage to the whole world that what touatra did...its a world record so touatra have to do this...!!! Those who agree show them with a comment...!!
